In my dream
I once saw me sited beneath a tree
A farm road stretched lazily some metres in away
The sun had just taken cover behind the silvered mountains
For the hour was tender
And the comely breeze gentle

Just as I wondered where I was
Two dwellers of the past emerged
A young man looking like a warrior
With a pretty damsel
Who has a grin spread across her face

She has found a lover in her world
I heard her beautiful song
As they saunter down that road

“my heart in yours and yours in mine
Hold me close in this storm
Take me round the world
I will follow
I don't need to ask your name
Or know who is your father
Just show me your hands
If they are black
Then you will really care
If they are not
Then i should really fear”

I travelled down the lane tracking their trail
I asked one of the denizens
Of my dream
what time it was
This was the answer I got

“this is the 7th day of the third moon
Of the 10th year
Of king Aderohunto's reign
14th century”

It's been long I had that dream
Yet I still wish to travel down that road once more
Perhaps my heart which times of heartless brokenness
Out numbers the stars
Will find someone
Who will need no burnt or cash offering to be convinced
But will accept we for who I am
A BLACK COUNTRY BOY

Gone are those days of love without cowries

These are the age of cars and class
They will even tell you
If you ain't get the cash and candies
Just goan rest in peace
