I may not have what it takes
To keep my heart from being broken
But if I can't mend the shattered pieces
I can at least pretend not to see
The sadness hidden within my tears

I have mastered the dance of lies
And the kisses that bruise my chick
Are flowered with the roses of betrayal

If tears are enough to wash my pains
I will be the happier than the denizens of Paradise
If there is healing in the wings of time
Let it flap its age across my swollen face
And take my bitterness to a faraway land
To a place where my weaken feet cannot carry me

I know I cannot stop my heart from being broken
Or mend its shattered pieces
But I can pretend not to see
The sadness hidden in my tears.

  1. A lovely piece of poem, seems to speak to me in particular. I observed that you kept spelling shattered as chartered or is that what you mean? Keep up the good work.
