She said No

*SHE SAID NO!*

She said NO!
But she didn't know

That too many nights had whistled by
With my thoughts awake beneath the starless sky

Making a thousand wishes with my fingers
Dreaming of the days we shall become lovers

I'd whispered to the ears of every friend
That my search for true love now has an end

She said No
How can it be so?

Yes how can it be?
With all the things she's said to me

We've talked and laughed as one
A surety of her golden heart already won

But she said No
And she didn't even know

That I wish that word was never spoken
It has left me really broken

But it's alright
Poetry should make it right

I will fight back these tears today
And then walk away
